Weekend in SF

Time to dust off the blog I suppose. I grew a little bit tired of talking about myself and felt like keeping things private for a moment. But apparently people think someone is wrong if I haven't blogged in a while. So without further ado...A weekend in San Francisco.

A couple weekends ago Nanci and I went to San Francisco. It's always good to get outside of our little bubbles from time to time to remind ourselves that there are a lot more people, places, and things out there than just what we see everyday. This is especially true in a big city.

The vacation began the moment we boarded the Virgin America plane.

After a brisk flight of watching TV and playing games, we landed in San Francisco and rode the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) into town. As soon as we got out of the station we were surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a big city. People walking at a faster than usual pace, tourists taking pictures while waiting for the cable car, and street performers, all at a single corner.

First order of business was checking into the chic and modern Hotel Frank.

Next we got ourselves a CityPass. For $60 you get to ride all of the municipal transportation and cable cars, plus there are several general admission tickets to the local attractions such as the famous museums and tours of the city.

Public transportation was great. We rode all around the city on the cable cars, trollies, and buses.

Here's a brief photo tour of most of the sites we visited:

Chinatown

Japantown

Fisherman's Wharf

Pier 39

Ghirardelli Square

Haight Ashbury

Castro District

Alcatraz

Museum of Modern Art

Union Square Park

Orpheum Theater
(Where we watched an AMAZING production of Wicked!)

And of course the Golden Gate Bridge.

This doesn't even include all of the great places we ate and the many stores we shopped at (well, Nanci shopped at :). And even though we did so many things, there is still sooo much left to do. So you can be sure there will be a Weekend in SF Part 2, and 3, and 4...
