I'm A Winner!

So Jonathan and I had lunch at Chick-Fil-A last week and as we were leaving, we decided to drop our business cards in the box for the weekly free lunch drawing. Because what else would we use our business cards for???

On Monday I receive a call saying they had picked my card for the drawing. Not only that, they had also picked Jonathan's card.....hmmmmmm did they really pick BOTH of our cards or were they just trying to win favor with the City? hehe

Either way, I was told we could invite 10-15 people for a free lunch at Chick-Fil-A. So I invited everyone in my department, which was about 15 of us. When we arrived for lunch they had a section reserved for us and told that us we could order ANYTHING off the menu! So of course I ordered everything on the right side of the menu. Kidding! I ordered the #4 Chargrilled Chicken Club Sandwich Combo.

The service was great as always, thanks to Ernesto the jolly ol' roving host taking care of our refills, clearing our finished trays, and giving us mints. Then right as we were all finishing up, they brought over frozen yogurt for desert. Yum!

Also of note: While all the other restaraunts are serving their food without tomatoes because of the whole salmonella scare, Chick-Fil-A is the only one I've seen that credits you 18 cents for not being able to include them. Such honesty. Keep up the good work!

My Future Place of Work

Lately at work a lot of planning has been going into the new Civic Center.

It doesn't look like much right now, but when it's done it's gonna be sweet!

Back at MY house

I'm glad to be back home. 3 weeks in a mansion all by myself...not so minimalistic.

Well perhaps I should elaborate on my house sitting experience with at least a few highlights.

1. Had a pool party/BBQ and came across a rather large but dead snake in the driveway. (Is this picture good enough Mikael?)

2. Experimented with fireworks.
3. Thought I lost my parents dog...2 days before they were returning home...for about half an hour.
4. Found a dead owl in the pool.
5. Zoey left me a present in the form of a dead squirrel.
6. Had an incredible birthday surprise.

So it looks like I was averaging 1 dead animal per week. I don't think I'm really cut out for this country living stuff.

Minimalism...It's catching on.

I just came across a Time magazine article on a group of people trying to whittle down their possession to just 100 things, and of course it struck a cord with me. Read It Here >>

As they say, "Less is more". That "more" could be extra time to focus on more important things, instead of maintaining or cleaning up after your possessions. And well, financially it's a no brainer, less stuff equals more money in your pocket.

I believe that as a lot of the excess from the real estate boom continues to flush out of the economy, we'll be seeing more and more minimalism taking place, whether it's voluntarily or out of necessity.

Krystin and Chris' Wedding Part 2

Well congratulations to Krystin and Chris Thorson. Their wedding ceremony took place at Calvary Chapel church in Temecula. Both of them were pretty emotional/nervous as you could hear their voices crack as they said their vows. hehe Unfortunately, I was seated too far back to take an decent pictures of the ceremony.

But I do have a few pictures from the reception.

Mr. & Mrs. Thorson cutting the cake
(no, they didn't smash it in each others faces much to our dismay)

Krystin getting ready to throw the boquet
(she did a fake out first which made all the girls jump. Haha)

You know it's a good party when theres a guy with a tie on his head

Congratulations Chris and Krystin, may you two have a wonderful life together.

Birthday Surprise.....Of My Life!

So this morning, I've been getting text messages, phone calls, and MySpace comments wishing me a happy birthday. It's nice knowing people out there are thinking of me.

Then around 10AM, I decide to let Zoey outside to goto the bathroom and this is what I see.

Then This

And This

My car was totally vandalized! hehe J/K

Every post it note had something special written on it, "happy birthday" in Japanese, a compliment, a quote of something I've said. I was literally awestruck. The first words out of my mouth were "OH...MY...GOD!" which I pretty much kept repeating like a crazy person. And who was the sneaky culprit responsible for such a feat?!?! Nanci!

We've alway had a little ongoing "war" of surprising each other with special things we do for one another and usually I was winning (at least I thought so), but she has beat me a 1,000 times over with this one!

Here are a couple questions to start with, how did she remember how to get back to my parents house, she's only been here once (well twice now, haha). How did she get past the gate, did she hop the fence with a handful of balloons and post its? Plus what are the odds that this happened the night I let Zoey sleep on my bed upstairs instead of in her downstairs area where she probably would have started barking? And if I hadn't driven my parents to the airport, I would have been parking my car in the garage so this wouldn't have been possible. It's too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence. I've never been so surprised in my 27 years of life.
