Tahquitz Hike

You may have noticed a few posts ago when I wrote about my new gear, that I had a hike the very next day. Well due to staying up and playing board games 'til 3 AM I didn't make that hike. My fault, but what can I say, it's easy to lose track of time when you're playing Apples to Apples and Cranium with a bunch of friends.

Luckily someone decided to lead another hike to the same place (Tahquitz Peak) a couple weeks later and as an added bonus my roommates Jesse and Steve came along.

It was a pretty good (as in tiring) hike. We reached the peak in 2 hours, us roomies sat on the boulders overlooking the valley and ate MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) courtesy of Nate. We decided we are going to open a restaurant called "MR. E's Mystery MREs" that serves only MREs. "Would madame like the Beef Teriyaki or Spaghetti with Meat Sauce MRE today?"

At the peak there is a fire lookout station which was actually open (apparently last hike it wasn't), so I got to have a look around and sign the register to prove I actually made it to the top. On the way back, we decided to start jogging half way down the trail and cut our time down quite a bit, reaching the parking lot in approximately 1 hours 10 min. The icing on the cake for the hike had to be the cooler of ice cold beers waiting for us at the bottom, it was the most delicious and refreshing Sam Adams I've ever tasted.

On that note, here are some pictures of our hike:
